Money Mindset Steps

1.

Draw a circle and divide it into 8 sections (like a pie!).

2.

Label each pie piece with different parts of your financial life, such as income, financial goals, expenses, credit cards, budgeting, savings, credit scores, and car or health insurance.

3.

Taking the center of the wheel as 0 and the outer as 10, draw a line to rate how you are feeling about each area— use a 0 as not feeling great and 10 as feeling great.

4.

Break into pairs and take turns discussing the coaching questions.

Coaching Questions:

  • For the highest two scores and the lowest two scores ask, “tell me why that is?”

  • For the lowest number ask, “what needs to happen in order to make this number higher?”

  • For the highest number ask, “what do you do to keep this number high?”

  • Ask the group, does your wheel roll? What would help it roll?

Helpful Hints:

  • Celebrate all strengths and progress that people have made in their life.

  • Acknowledge the goal of the exercise is not to be 10 in all areas, but to think about where you want to put your focus moving forward.
