Money Mindset Steps

1.

Individually, on sticky notes, we’re going to spend 2 minuteswriting down as many ideas for things you can make/grow/produce. It can be anything. Maybe you’re able to grow tomatoes, sew curtains or an article of clothing, knit a hat, bake a cake, ormake tortillas. It can be something you could make on your ownor that you’d make with others.

2.

After brainstorming, everyone post their sticky notes on the wall.

3.

Ask for volunteers to share their favorite thing to make, and whatit is they enjoy about it. (Use the coaching questions to facilitatemore discussion.)

Coaching Questions:

  • What was the first thing that you made from scratch? How did it feel to make it?

  • Is there anything on here you prefer to make instead of buy? Why is that? What do you enjoy about the making of this thing?

  •  Is there something here that you’d like to learn how to make?

Helpful Hints:

  • Some things might be more fun, delicious, or rewarding to make instead of buy. There’s nothing wrong with buying instead of making. The goal of this exercise is to pause and reflect on what we enjoy making, what it is we enjoy about it, and share that with others who may be inspired by you.
